Biography: Ine Poppe
 

Ine Poppe (1960, NL) works in Amsterdam as an artist, writer, director -has her own company IP-productions. As a journalist Poppe writes extensively about digital culture, technology and art, the last few years exclusively for the Art Section of the national newspaper NRC-Handelsblad. She has researched and directed television documentaries for National Television; wrote a journalistic book about Dutch Squatters in the eighties, and published essays about Games and Web-applications. Poppe lectures on the arts and multimedia and is Professor at Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam. Her documentary Hippies from Hell, about Dutch Hackers, was shown at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam 2002 and in the Reina Sophia Museum in Madrid, 2003. This November in Chili,New Media festival in the museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago. Poppe also wrote scenarios for several computer games, in 2002 for the Teylers Science Museum in Haarlem. She was winner of the 2002 Geneva-Europe Grand Prize for TV-scenarios, with the scenario of Necrocam, about a webcam inside a coffin, an idea from her son Zoro, a computerfreak. NY-Times Matt Mirapaul wrote about Necrocam after the film was released online and Poppe discussed webcasting on BBC-radio 4. Necrocam was nominated for the Rockie Awards, Banff. At the moment she is working as an advisor for the VPRO-programma The Future which started in 2006.
